Inaugural Weekend of Fast Track High Performance Driving School Will Hit ‘The Rock’ This Weekend

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (Feb. 18, 2008) ‘ Bryan Silas had the honor of being the first driver to test at the Rockingham Speedway since Andy Hillenburg purchased the speedway and reopened it late last year. Since then, over 20 different drivers have used the Rock for testing ‘ including two former NASCAR Champions, a former Formula 1 driver and a Champ Car race winner.

This weekend, 20 ‘up and comers’ will get their chance to tackle the one-mile Rockingham Speedway oval while attending the first Fast Track High Performance Driving School since the track opened back up for business.

Each student will participate in a three day course that includes over 100 laps around the high-banked track, classroom instructions, race maneuvers while driving the cars by themselves, nose to tail and side by side maneuvers to simulate racing conditions and a chassis class to help better understand the handling characteristics of a stock car.

Although the three day portion of the class is sold out, there is still the opportunity for anyone age 18 or older to stop by the track this weekend, February 22nd-24th, to experience a race car ride which consists of three laps in the passenger seat of a two-seat racecar with one of the Fast Track driving instructors. The cost is regularly $90 for this thrill of a lifetime but for this special weekend the cost will be only $75.

For those wanting to drive one of the Fast Track Stock cars can still purchase a limited number of Thunder Courses for Sunday February 24th. Students drive a NASCAR-style stock car for 12 exciting and unforgettable laps around the race track, following a lead car driven by a Fast Track instructor. The Thunder Courses will be held from Noon to 5:00 p.m.

The Fast Track High Performance Driving School will have seven more courses at Rockingham Speedway throughout the 2008 season. For more information or to purchase rides or driving schools, please visit www.fasttrackracing.com or call the school at 704-455-1700.
