Gillette Young Guns Promo Deal

Larry Woody takes the position that the Gillette Company’s “Young Guns” Promo campaign will emphasize the disparity between the young guys and the grey beards. If the grey beards want to close the gap, indeed, eliminate it entirely they only need to do one thing. Win races!

The only thing drawing attention to the young drivers is that they win races. Gee, what a novel idea; lets pay attention to people winning races as opposed to drivers who haven’t won much in a dogs age. In my humble opinion, D.W., inspite or because of his past championships, held on five years too long to a career that was going to the announcers booth anyway.

If Nascar were like baseball, they could find a way for their aging superstars to prolong their careers by becoming designated hitters, bench players, or relief pitchers instead of starters. Can’t do that in a race car, can we?

Maybe the answer is to form yet another series. The “Nascar Senior Superstars Series”. Kind of like the PGA seniors tour. Then we would find out how loyal the fans are to their venerated drivers.
