Race Results: United Rentals 100

From Phoenix International Raceway, the results from yesterdays United Rentals 100 of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West. Why would anyone care? Ask Sarah Fisher or Michel Jourdain Jr.

In what I believe are their first competitive laps in stock cars, both Sarah Fisher and Michel Jourdain Jr. ran the 100 lap event in Phoenix Arizona. Jourdain started 16th and managed a 6th place finish, while Fisher came in 20th from a 23rd place start. Not bad at all, hopefully a trend that will only get bettter as the season unwinds.

Not bad at all? Michel yes…but Sarah? She’s been driving in circles for years, this should be pretty old hat to her. 20th? I hate to pan the girl, I really do, but she better not blame it on equipment.
You really don’t think there is a difference between driving an IRL car and a NASCAR slug (relatively speaking)?
Anyone making that transition needs time behind the wheel; which makes Jourdain’s effort all the more impressive.
And remember Sarah is only, what, 24 or so? Lots of racing life left to mature and get better, with a quality team. But I also agree, it could be her last racing shot, she better make the most of it.
Sarah actually had a much better run than I initially surmised. Considering the immediate mechanical problems they had, she ran very well. Pheonix is not a track where you want to come from the back, but she got back to 9th. The team did a great job loosing only 2 laps changing a battery. The WS Journal link is a great piece. She’ll put some fans in the stands, and Lord knows, West needs the seats filled!!! We look forward to seeing her in Denver @ CNS!
Totally unrelated to the race…does anyone know where I can get a United Rentals 100 hat? My friend works for United Rentals and is a huge Nascar fan-just thought it would be a cool gift! Thanks!
