Vegas Is Yeley’s NASCAR Debut
Written by Josh Katinger · March 4, 2004
This Saturday’s Sam’s Town 300 Busch Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will mark the beginning of what is most probably going to be an amazing NASCAR career. 2003 USAC Triple Crown Champion J.J. Yeley will drive the Joe Gibbs Racing #18 Vigoro/Home Depot Chevy as part of an A-B-C schedule that will consist of ARCA, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.
This is a great example of what a team with Gibbs’ resources can offer an up-and-comer like Yeley. He’ll have great exposure in various echelons of big time stock car racing, and all this while leveraging the Gibbs relationship with Home Depot. Home Depot gets to throw their suppliers a bone (Vigoro) and get their name into big time motor racing, while the sponsor gets to test the racing waters with both the team and the driver. A true win-win-win deal all around. The question is; will J.J. win?
