Xboxers To Race Against Kyle Busch
Written by Josh Katinger · February 23, 2005
As part of their “Game with Fame” series that lets players pit their skills against famous people (sometimes related to the game and sometimes not) Xbox will promote it’s NASCAR® 2005: Chase for the Cup™ with Kyle Busch at the wheel, or rather the game controller.
Here’s how to race against Kyle (younger brother of NEXTEL Cup Champ Kurt):
Kyle Busch will be playing on Xbox Live from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Eastern/11:00 A.M. to noon Pacific on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Look for the Gamertag KB5Grrreeat.
Kyle’s new ride for 2005 is the Hendrick #5 Chevy that he took over from the semi-retired Terry Labonte this season. The car continues to be sponsored by Kellogg’s and Tony the Tiger continues to ride on the hood (get the cute Gamertag now?).
While I haven’t played the new game yet I find it interesting that, as a NASCAR licensed product that must have gotten the France family blessing, some of it’s features include…
Next-generation grudges and alliances: Make your driver a hero or a villain. Force mistakes with the new Intimidator Button. Rivalries even spill off the track with post-race confrontations.
and…
American muscle cars: Settle bitter rivalries on the streets in production cars, including the Ford GT and Dodge Viper.
While I like it a lot and it certainly sounds cool, why does NASCAR allow a game to portray the very type of activity that it fines, suspends and vilifies drivers for in real life? I guess the game maker realizes that these are the types of things that make the sport more entertaining…or maybe it’s just a game and I should stop over analyzing it.
In any case, if anyone gets to race against Kyle, let us know if he’s as good in the virtual world as he is on track.
