Yeley signs with Gibbs Racing?

With his connection to Tony Stewart I guess it’s only natural that J.J. Yeley’s future would be in Nascar. I have addressed this before, I just do not understand how the IRL can afford to let an oval racing talent like J.J. be whisked off to Nascar.

Even if Tony George has to dip into his own coffers to finance his salary, it would be worth the cost, and possibly reverse or at least stem a trend. Come on Mr. George, get with supporting American oval racers. Make J.J. an offer he can’t refuse, and get him into the IRL!
Then again, maybe no amount of money can entice a young aggressive driver to a series where serious and fatal accidents are becoming the norm rather then the exceptions they used to be. Think about it.
Maybe J.J has gotten accustomed to the roll cage surrounding him in the USAC racing he is so good at. He probbably has done more barrel rolls in his car than most fighter pilots! Nascar after all, has serious roll cage construction, and with the new head and neck restraints and soft walls at tracks, is a lot safer than the IRL.
