Schumacher wrecks Friday at Memphis

550b9650_std.jpeFriday, for the third event in a row Tony Schumacher stole the show. He won at Indy a few weeks back and made the fastest run in history last week, but unfortunately Tony got the wrong kind of attention on Friday. The streak was bound to end. He emerged unscathed from a classic massive blow over Friday at the 16th annual O’Reilly Mid-South Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park. Doubly sad was that the wreck stole attention from the seven of eight professional-level track marks that were broken

Schumacher’s wreck wasn’t the only hair raiser on Friday. Additional off-track action ensued when the season long feud between John Force and Whit Bazemore’s crew chief, Lee Beard also “blew over” and the two had a screaming match at the top end of the track with Force pinning Beard against a support vehicle….

“The Force camp has contended for some time that Beard intentionally slows Bazemore’s staging procedure to throw Force off-balance, a charge the Matco team vehemently denies.”

Force was clearly the aggressor and Beard looked pretty scared.
