Swimming Down the Strip in Texas

Bazemore, Cruz, Jeggie and Smith are (still!) holding the pole positions after a soggy day at Houston Raceway Park.
There were plenty of moments when I wondered if I’d have any sort of race report for you today, other than “take yesterday’s report and lather/rinse/repeat.”
After torrential overnight, morning and afternoon rain and cracking thunderstorms, the Safety Safari worked frenetically to dry the track so that we could have just a few more rounds of qualifying today.
The die-hard fans stuck it out as long as they could, almost completely re-filling the stands at one point around 6:15 p.m. when it appeared that Pro Stock Motorcycle would run.
Unfortunately, as the bikes began staging, another shower came through.
So, you will need to lather/rinse/repeat. The qualifying round results for Friday will stand, and you can enjoy my photo of Antron Brown and his US Army crew prepping his bike for the run that didn’t happen.
Meantime, dear reader, since I’m away from home to cover the race, I’m going to go “love that chicken from (takeout) Popeye’s” and watch the NCAA basketball tournament game between Florida and UCLA.
May our race day tomorrow be considerably drier.
