Mother Nature tried her best to put a crimp in the activities at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals Saturday but in spite of that, records fell. Following Friday’s run, Dave Grubnic clocked a pass of 4.471 sec/331.77 mph pass in Top Fuel while Gary Scelzi backed up his 330.15 mph pass in Funny Car with a faster 330.55 mph attempt.
Tony Pedregon earned the top qualifier slot in Funny Car while Grubnic was Number One in Top Fuel. Jason Line grabbed the top qualifier slot in Pro Stock from his boss Greg Anderson at 6.802 sec/ 202.33 mph, just six thousandths quicker than Anderson’s pass.
NHRA qualifying report describes the day’s events.
