What a long, strange day it’s been

(NHRA.com Sunday recap, ladders and other data aren’t available because the NHRA Web site seems to be down, no doubt due to heavy traffic related to the John Force accident. I’ll put them up whenever I can access the site.)

Update: NHRA.com Sunday recap and Sunday results page.

Larry Dixon’s rail for Don “The Snake” Prudhomme held off hot-running Bob Vandergriff, Jr. to claim the Top Fuel victory.

It was an all-Pedregon brothers Funny Car final today because of John Force’s accident and Ashley Force’s decision to stay with her Dad rather than race Cruz in the semifinals. The team works closely together and shares info, so it pretty much came down to the drivers (Trivia note: Cruz’s crew chief Rahn Tobler is married to Shirley Muldowney.)

The “Nitro Chili Cruz-er” struck the tires and younger brother Tony sailed away with the win.

In Pro Stock, Dave Connolly of Victor Cagnazzi Racing got a gift and the win, because his finals opponent Greg Anderson inexplicably broke and oiled down at the starting line, not even making the run.

Peggy Llewellyn, a Texan Pro Stock Motorcycle driver from San Antonio, drove herself into a Wally and into the Countdown by beating Andrew Hines.

MY family members are BIG drag raceing fans and we would just like to say that we are hoping for a SPEEDY (so to speak) recovery for John Force. We just love him and have followed him for years. Funny Cars just would NOT be the same without him. He is surely in for a long recuperation. Best of luck to him and his family.
    Very Sincerely,
Kim Lowe and Family : )

To the force family, may god be with you in this time of need. May John have a full recovery. I love watching him race, I hope this dosn’t change his mind, but if he does, I will respect that. Hang in there John and dont give the nurses to much crap…LOL

Got something to say?
