Audi Wins Fifth Straight 12 Hours of Sebring

The Audi UK Sport Team Veloqx with drivers Pierre Kaffer, Frank Biela and Allan McNish gave Audi its fifth straight win in the historic 12 Hours of Sebring. While not short on driving talent, this was the team’s first entry at Sebring and it was surprisingly trouble free.
The victors sister car made up for the winners lack of trouble by encountering transmission trouble among other things, however Jamie Davies, Guy Smith and Johnny Herbert still managed to bring the second Audi UK Sport Team Veloqx LMP 1 entry home third overall.
Frank Biela is now tied with Mario Andretti, Phil Hill, Hans Stuck and Oliver Gendebien for achieving the Sebring hat-trick.
“This is now my third victory in the last five years with an Audi R8,” commented Biela. “They have won five times in a row - a fantastic achievement for this sports prototype.”
Corvette Racing’s No. 3 was the GTS class winner driven by Ron Fellows, Johnny O’Connell and Max Papis. Alex Job Racing claimed their sixth victory in the No. 23 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR while the LMP 2 class honors were taken by American Spirit Racing/Miracle Motorsports drivers’ John Macaluso, Ian James and Mike Borkowski.
