Rocketsports Racing Dominates Qualifying, Again
Written by Scott Calhoon · June 25, 2005
It should come as no surprise but Rocketsports Racing has once again proven to be the fastest team in Trans-Am. Today as the teams took to Cleveland’s temporary road course at the Burke Lakefront Airport, rookie sensation Klaus Graf, lead the Rocketsport pack to his second consecutive pole in as many races. He was followed closely by team owner/driver Paul Gentilozzi and fellow team mate Tomy Drissi. Of course Rocketsports Racing has set the bench mark for many years in Trans-Am and why shouldn’t they be the fastest?

After reviewing a list of this years current team/drivers it has come to my attention that they are the only full time multi-car operation in the field. It is safe to say that they have the most resources and/or money. That being said, where are all the competitors? I know money is tight these days and sponsorship is scarce but is that really the problem? Where are all the cars? Did I mention that tomorrows race will only have 14 entered? Trans-Am has even made it easier than ever to compete, as I mentioned in my last article there are now 3 classes and GT America has allowed ASA cars to compete. You remember ASA don’t you? Back in the day when TNN existed and racing was on all the time.
ASA cars are now legal for the GT America class, so why not enter. If I had a GT America car or ASA car I would do it, I would make the journey even if I was coming from California as most of the America teams are. Leave tonight, drive straight through and put your car on the track. If nothing else you walk away with a class win and a chance to showcase your team/driver to a lot of top guns out there.
Come on fellow racers were ever you are, you have the car, the only added cost now is getting to the track. I know they have ASA racing in Ohio, after all that’s what ASA is all about, racing in the Midwest. There are only 14 cars tomorrow - not a very good showing. Heck you could even run on the tires and set up from Portland, we know that about 1/4 to 1/3 the field won’t finish. It doesn’t matter if you’re car is a little out dated, just show up and earn some points. Thank you and good night.
